Hello humans, my name is Jack.
I’m a 5 year old Patterdale/Lakeland cross.
I am neutered, vaccinated, chipped and my worming & flea treatment is up to date too.
I’m looking for my new forever home as my owner sadly died. I stayed with him for some time after he passed, hoping he would wake up again, but sadly he didn’t. This was a difficult time for me but the wonderful humans looking after me now have helped put a spring back in my step and my tail wag again.
I love the company of humans and I’d happily sit and let you stroke me all day long. I mean, why would you not want to, I’m gorgeous!
A comforting hand makes me feel safe and secure. I have so much love to give!
Having someone at home most of the day would be lovely, but once I’m settled, I could gradually get used to being left while you went shopping. I wouldn’t want to be left for more than a few hours though.
I’ll even do a few tricks for you too, like high five, paw and sit. Maybe you could teach me some more. I’m a clever lad you know!
I’ve not shown any aggression to humans and I’m happy for you to touch my food bowl too.
After all, humans provide my food and it’s nice to be nice isn’t it?
In my last home I didn’t spend much time around little humans, so I don’t have the experience needed to live with them.
Therefore I’m looking for a home with over 16’s only, who are dog savvy.
I don’t like cats or small furries, so I don’t want to share with any of them thank you and I also need to be the only dog in the home too.
Walks are one of my favourite things and I love to explore. I do need help with learning to walk better on my leash though. I pull because I’m excited, so a slip lead and proper training will help me improve. I’d love to be able to walk proudly by your side!
When seeing other dogs I bark and spin on my lead, mainly due to excitement. You see, I’ve not had much experience of socialising with others and I don’t know how to act around them, but I’m willing to listen and learn. So far, talking to me and changing direction when we see another dog has shown to help me calm down, and lots of praise too.
I would greatly benefit from someone who has the time and knowledge to help me learn doggy etiquette, with careful introductions, parallel walking, distraction techniques (my favourite ball wound help with this - I’m obsessed!)
Also, I’d like to go to doggy school.
Training and socialising classes would be very beneficial for me too and would be a great way for me to bond with my new humans too.
The distraction techniques may also help with my dislike of bikes, as I like to bark at them too.
Well, I don’t understand what they are - strange alien things on two wheels that move!
As you know, when a dog is unsure of something, we bark and I just need you to show me that they’re nothing to worry about.
I'm eager to learn and a strong leader is what I’m looking for in a human companion - have you got what it takes to help me become a grade A student? I’m sure I’ll do you proud.
If you can offer me a calm, loving experienced home and would like to join in the fun with me at doggy school, then please get in touch with the lovely people looking after me.
To adopt me you’ll need to meet the following criteria -
1. Experienced, confident and knowledgeable owner to help with my training.
2. Over 16’s only
3. No other dogs
4. Secure garden with fences of at least 5/6ft
5. No cats or small furries
